Who is Double Deuce?
Hello and welcome! My name is Mersadie Martin, the founder and owner of Double Deuce Goat Tying!
As a successful rodeo athlete and college rodeo coach, I have dedicated my life to serving rodeo athletes around the world.
My goal is to share the skills that I have developed over the last 20 years of my rodeo career.
My Coaching Style
My coaching style is built on patience, consistency, and a strong foundation of fundamentals. I believe every athlete learns differently, so I focus on creating a positive environment where students can build confidence, develop their skills, and reach their full potential.
As a coach, I emphasize hard work, accountability, and attention to detail while encouraging athletes to enjoy the process of learning and improving. I strive to teach not only the technical aspects of goat tying and rodeo events but also the life skills that come with competition—discipline, perseverance, sportsmanship, and mental toughness.
My goal is to help each athlete become the best version of themselves, both in and out of the arena. Through encouragement, individualized instruction, and a commitment to growth, I aim to develop confident competitors who are prepared for success in rodeo and beyond.

Beyond the ordinary
Double Deuce isn’t just an ordinary name. It stands for the year of 2022 where my career and life changed for the better. In 2022, the idea of Double Deuce came to life after graduating from Sam Houston State. I decided to make a complete lifestyle change and move to Louisiana to obtain my masters degree at McNeese State University and rodeo for one of the most prestigious coaches in college rodeo, Justin Browning. I spent the next couple of years practicing and taking in as much knowledge from him as I could in order to become one of the strongest coaches in the collegiate world. However, I’ve always found myself spending the most time with my Jr. High and High School students. I’ve learned that having a strong foundation and the right mindset at an early age can set athletes apart from one another. After countless hours in the arena, studying, and perfecting my method, I have found that the Double Deuce way is the most consistent and fastest way to the top.
